In our recent endeavors, TAP Nitiative concluded arrangements to stage a novelty football match at the iconic national stadium in Lagos. The event termed the #PVCFootball Awareness match is to star players from the 1994 AFCON winners against their 2013 counterparts who also won the game in South Africa.
On the 12th of January 2019, a meeting and press conference hosted by TAP Nitiative was held at the Lagos Travel Inn, in Lagos. The meeting featured the likes of Mutiu Adepoju, Victor Ikpeba, Taribo West and Nduka Ugbade.
At the beginning of the meeting the Program director, Mr. Martin Obono, introduced the event to the players as well as the attendees and outlined what is to be expected of the ambassadors in the future. This followed engagement by the football stars who each took turn to express their outlook on the event and its purpose. In a short speech delivered by Mr. Ugbade, he related to the audience that a project of this magnitude is a great way to push for a competent leader that can handle the issues of education, economic problems and more.
The event also allowed a platform for a press conference to be held by different media outlets who were given the opportunity to have one-on-one conversations with the players as well as the team leader of the organization responsible for hosting the event. The PVCFootball ambassadors were also interviewed by TapNitiative to create content for our mini-documentary series.
Even with just over 20 people in attendance, the event was successful as it featured the likes of Joshua Olufemi (Director of Premium Times Center for Investigative Journalism) who also delivered an honorary speech, Samson Siasia (Former Super Eagles coach) and esteemed lawyers from the Olaniwun Ajayi Legal Practice. Also present were media journalist from various news forums such as Vanguard Newspaper, This day Newspaper, The Nation Newspaper, Punch Newspaper etc. and even CNN on the international scale too. Aside all this, having the presence of famous football players at the event was enough to add to the grandiose of the experience.
“I am always ready to play” quoted from Mr. Adepoju, one of the ambassadors, is a showcase of the spirit to be exhibited on the pitch on the 9th of February 2019.
